What better way to say goodbye than to spend my last few days in D.C.? As the past two Peace Corps Indonesia groups had flown into San Francisco for their staging events, I was expecting our group would follow suit. But no. Just a few weeks before our departure date I received an email informing me staging would take place in Washington April 1st – 2nd. Oh, and would I like to arrive a day early? Yes, please.
I spent some time walking around the National Mall and quickly visit Georgetown University. Oh, and I passed by Barry’s house too. As our staging coordinator B.J. Whetstine told us, staging is a transformative experience. Before registration at 12:00 noon Sunday we were just an eclectic crowd, but after, we were official Peace Corps trainees!
